Four programmes, quoted against mill specification

The book below is what we quote today, not a catalogue. Each programme folds out to its full specification envelope for the engineer who needs it; anything not listed is priced against a firm enquiry.

Alloys & compounds

Not a standing programme, but priced against firm enquiry through the same counterparties: bulk ferroalloys for deoxidation and alloying, LME-grade non-ferrous metal, and technical oxides for steel, refractory and ceramic supply chains.

Capabilities What sits behind the price: the six functions that make a cargo actually arrive.

A price is only as good as what stands behind it

Anyone can quote. The work is in holding the quote through origination, finance, freight, inspection and documentation — and absorbing the risk between them so the buyer sees one counterparty and one contract.

Origination & marketing

Direct working relationships with producing mills, smelters and mine operators, and with the consuming plants on the other side. We place tonnage where it clears rather than where it is easiest to sell.

  • Mill offtake
  • Spot & term
  • Distressed cargo

Structured trade finance

Cargoes carried on our own working capital and on bank lines, so the buyer is not asked to prepay a producer it has never dealt with. Instruments issued and accepted through approved first-class banks.

  • Irrevocable LC at sight
  • Usance LC
  • SBLC
  • CAD / DP

Freight & logistics

Ocean freight fixed on the parcel, not the other way round: containerised lots, handysize and supramax bulk, and breakbulk for long product. Inland haulage, port storage and transhipment arranged to the delivery term.

  • Bulk & breakbulk
  • Container
  • Transhipment
  • Port storage

Quality & inspection

Independent pre-shipment inspection at load port as standard, with sampling, weighing and assay by an agreed international surveyor. Mill test certificates issued to EN 10204 3.1 for steel product.

  • SGS · Bureau Veritas · Intertek
  • Draft survey
  • Umpire assay

Price & risk management

Fixed-price, floating and index-linked structures referencing published assessments, with exposure hedged where a liquid instrument exists. Currency and freight risk priced explicitly rather than buried in the number.

  • LME reference
  • Platts · Fastmarkets
  • Fixed & floating

Documentation & compliance

Full document sets prepared to the letter of credit, first presentation. Counterparties screened before contract; origin, ownership and sanctions position established for every cargo we handle.

  • KYC / AML
  • Sanctions screening
  • Certificate of origin
  • Incoterms 2020
Trade flows Regional programme. Every origin and destination is screened against applicable sanctions regimes before contract.

Sourced across five regions, cleared through the Gulf

A UAE booking centre sits between producer and consumer for a practical reason: neutral jurisdiction, bank capacity, and a port that can hold, blend and transship a cargo while the destination is still being fixed.

Parcel sizes
Containerised lots from 1 × 20 ft, handysize and supramax bulk parcels to 55 kt, breakbulk for long product.
Delivery terms
FOB, CFR, CIF, FCA and DAP under Incoterms 2020. Term selected to match where each side carries risk best.
Payment
Irrevocable confirmed LC at sight, usance LC, SBLC, CAD and TT — subject to approved bank list and credit review.
Process Enquiry to discharge. Typical elapsed time from firm offer to loading is 3–6 weeks depending on programme.

From enquiry to discharge

The sequence is the same whether the cargo is a single container of ferromolybdenum or a supramax of iron ore. What changes is the surveyor, the packing and the size of the letter of credit.

01

Enquiry and specification

You send product, grade, quantity, destination and required delivery window. Where the specification is open, we work back from the process the material feeds — furnace practice, heat size, tolerance on residuals.

Response within one working day
02

Indicative offer

An indicative price against a stated basis and Incoterms term, with the assumptions written out: origin, packing, laycan, surveyor, payment instrument. Nothing hidden in the freight.

Subject to material availability and final confirmation
03

Counterparty review

KYC on both sides, sanctions and ownership screening, and a credit view on the payment structure. Run once and kept current, so repeat business does not start from zero.

Required before any firm offer is issued
04

Firm offer and contract

Firm, time-limited price and a full sale contract with technical annex, quality and quantity determination clauses, penalty and bonus scales, laycan, demurrage and governing law.

English law · arbitration seat agreed in contract
05

Payment instrument

Letter of credit opened or standby issued to the agreed wording and checked line by line against the document list before the cargo is nominated. Discrepancies get resolved on paper, not at the bank counter.

Approved first-class banks only
06

Inspection and shipment

Independent pre-shipment inspection at load port — sampling, assay, weighing, and packing check. Vessel or container nominated, cargo loaded, bill of lading issued against clean survey.

Certificates issued by agreed international surveyor
07

Documents and discharge

Full document set presented within the credit period, with shipping advice and copies released on sailing. Discharge supervision and final assay settlement handled through to closure of the contract.

Final settlement on discharge-port certificate where contracted
Compliance The part of a trade that is boring right up until it is the only thing that matters.

Quality and compliance are contract terms, not promises

Every standard below appears in the sale contract with a named certificate, a named issuer and a consequence if it is not met.

Quality assurance

  • Mill test certificate to EN 10204 3.1, or 3.2 where the buyer nominates a second party
  • Pre-shipment inspection at load port by SGS, Bureau Veritas, Intertek or Cotecna
  • Sampling and assay to ISO 3082 / ISO 4296 for bulk mineral cargoes
  • Umpire assay procedure and referee laboratory named in contract
  • IMSBC cargo declaration and TML certificate for cargoes that may liquefy

Trade compliance

  • KYC and beneficial-ownership checks on every counterparty before contract
  • Screening against applicable sanctions regimes, refreshed per transaction
  • Certificate of origin and, where required, chamber-of-commerce legalisation
  • Contracts on Incoterms 2020, letters of credit under UCP 600
  • Responsible sourcing position and conflict-minerals declaration on request
Payment security

Ravextrade never asks for advance payment to a third-party or personal account, and never changes bank details by email alone. Every payment instruction is stated in the signed contract and confirmed by telephone with our office before funds move.

Scrap and metallics are a market where impostors trade on real company names. If an instruction does not match the contract, stop and call us.

About Corporate particulars are published so a counterparty can verify us before we ask to verify them.

A trading house, not a broker

Ravextrade takes title. We buy the cargo, carry it on our own balance sheet and bank lines, and sell it on — which means the counterparty risk, the freight risk and the quality risk sit with us rather than being passed along with an introduction fee.

That distinction decides everything else about how the business is run: who we will contract with, how much material we will hold, and why the inspection and documentation work described above is not an add-on service but the cost of doing the trade at all.

The company is licensed as a Free Zone Company in the Jebel Ali Free Zone — inside the port itself, alongside the terminals, bonded storage and shipping lines the cargo actually moves through. Corporate particulars are published below and are verifiable directly with the Free Zone Authority.
